Let No Child Go Hungry

Our History

A Gift of Love is a nonprofit 501-C organization that was created by Juanita Clay in 1995. Mrs. Clay worked in the cafeteria at an elementary school and witnessed children stuffing food in their pockets to take home and eat later. With some of the children wearing the wrong size shoes and clothing to school daily, Mrs. Clay saw a need to help!

The Book Bag Food Program

We service over 22 elementary, and middle schools in Douglas County which feeds approximately 300 children every week!

Through hard work and dedication to making sure no child is left hungry, our volunteers make sure local school children are sent home with a bag of food for every day they are out of school (weekend and holidays).

What We Do

Our Staff & Volunteers

We have a wonderful group of people that dedicate their time each week to help support our mission.

Volunteers are always welcome to help prepare food bags, transport and drop bags off to the schools, help raise funds, and anything else that is needed to help feed the children in our program.

The READ Program

What is the "READ" program?

"READ" is a program dedicated to  building literacy in the Douglas County area.

How We Help

We are collecting new and/or gently used books, starting from Pre-K, up to 12th grade reading levels. The books are then donated to the children in our community so that they have the opportunity to independently build their literacy, book by book.
